How Does PetDesk Select Phone Numbers For SMS Text?

After recognizing numbers you've attempted to contact via SMS/text were undeliverable, PetDesk sends you a list of numbers our system has flagged as invalid. Below is how PetDesk selects the client's number used for SMS texting.

PetDesk chooses a phone number for SMS texting use based on this criteria, in this order:

  1. Select the phone number marked as "Cell" AND "Primary"
  2. Select the most recently created phone number with the "Type" of "Cell" or "Mobile" (or other similar terms that could denote a cellular number)
  3. Select the phone number that is marked as "Primary" (regardless of "Type")
  4. Select the most recently created phone number marked as "Home"
  5. Select the most recently created phone number marked as "Spouse"
  6. Select the most recently created phone number marked as "Work"
  7. Select the most recently created phone number NOT marked as "Fax" or "Emergency"
  8. Select "Fax/Emergency"

Additional Notes:

  • Phone numbers must be 10-digits without any extensions or additional characters before/after
    • Acceptable formatting is (123)-456-7890
    • Formatting like (123)-456-7890 ext: 1 or Spouse (123)-456-7890 will not be read correctly
  • Invalid numbers will remain on this list if not addressed (or actually a home/landline)
  • After a successful delivery, a number will no longer be flagged as "invalid"
