Two-Way Texting is especially powerful when pre-loading commonly used messages into PetDesk. Share arrival or drop-off times, curbside instructions, pre- and post-surgery instructions, and payment options with one click. Pre-populated templates will save your front desk even more time and maintain a personalized client experience.
If you aren't already, please log in to the PetDesk Communications dashboard using your admin credentials.
- In the left navigation, click the Inbox tab
- Click the Manage menu
- Select Templates from the drop down
Edit a Template
PetDesk has pre-populated a few templates we thought you'd find useful in your day-to-day. Customize or replace the existing templates by clicking the Edit button on the selected template.
Quick Tip: Want to send a fun message, or get your client's attention? Insert emojis! Here's how:
- In the Template editor, you can select the emoji smiley face icon in the bottom left of the text box
Add a Template
Add another template by clicking the + sign button at the top of the Template editor.
There is a maximum of 40 templates, each with a 600 character limit. After 40, Create New Template will be disabled, with a 'max templates reached' message. You can modify an existing template, or delete a previous one to create space for a new template.
Add Merge Tags
Merge tags can be inserted while editing or creating a template. These act exactly like the merge tags in mass messages, though there are just a few different options in the Inbox. To use variables, select the Add Variable menu (next to the emoji menu) and simply choose the merge tag you would like to use! Use these to add a personal touch to your messages and strengthen relationships with clients.
Merge tags will automatically populate when inserting a template into a conversation with a synced client.
For conversations with non-synced clients (i.e., there is only a phone number at the top of the conversation view), the template modal will pop up with an alert. You can still insert the template and will have to manually fill out or remove those variables.
Insert templates into Two-Way Conversations
While in a conversation, select the icon of a paper and pencil to the left of the 3 dot menu. The familiar quick insert list will pop up and you can select a template by title in just a few clicks! The Manage Templates selection will open up your template library if you need to make any adjustments.
When you have a conversation selected and the template library is pulled up from either the quick insert list or the Manage menu, you will be able to insert right then and there after making any edits you may need.
