The PetDesk Dashboard helps keep you up to date on the latest important events via its Desktop Notifications. For most, enabling is as simple as clicking on the green Enable Desktop Notifications button on the dashboard's upper right. However, if that does not work as expected, this article provides some next best steps.
Not getting the notifications?
If you're not getting the option to Enable Desktop Notifications or the actual pop-up/sound alerts, when an appointment request comes into the PetDesk Dashboard, we suggest the below steps.
This will only impact notifications on the current browser and PC, so you would have to follow the same steps for any other workstations you use to access PetDesk.
- Requirement: Ensure you access the PetDesk Dashboard in a Google Chrome Browser
- chrome://settings/?search=update - copy and paste this URL into your browser to check for Chrome updates:
-
chrome://settings/content/notifications - copy and paste this URL into your browser to check Chrome Allow/Blocked settings:
- If the PetDesk URL is in the Blocked section, click the three vertical dots to the right > click Allow to allow notifications
-
If the URL is in the Allow section, click the three dots(in a vertical line) to the right and click Remove to reset
the notifications - If the URL is not listed in either section, we recommend adding it to the Allow section at this point
-
Review your PCs local Notifications settings(see screenshot at the bottom of this article)
- Ensure the following are toggled on and checked.
-
Is your specific browser tab Muted?
- A muted tab will stop sound notifications from a website on Chrome
- Right-click on the tab and click Unmute Site to start receiving notifications from that website again
-
Allow notifications from Chrome's address bar
- Go to the Chrome tab of the impacted website and click the lock icon in the address bar.
-

While it may not be necessary in all cases, we recommend closing out the browser and re-opening it after browser settings change. Once you've completed those steps, you can return to your PetDesk Dashboard. You should see the green button at the top. Click the button to enable those desktop notifications on that browser and computer.
Once your notifications are set up, this article outlines what to expect.
